How it works

From setup to the first landlord statement

How an agency or a landlord starts on Estate Ledger, in the order most will take it.

Set up my properties free
  1. Open your account

Sign up with your email and the name of your agency or property. An Estate Ledger account keeps the rental books and nothing else, and starts on a free trial.

  2. Choose agency or own property

An agency manages for landlords, with commission, payouts and statements; a landlord managing their own property has none of those. Set the currency, the billing defaults and the payment instructions tenants will see.

  3. Add your properties and tenants

Add landlords, properties and units by hand, or import them with your tenants, leases and balances from CSV. Give your staff their sign-ins and assign caretakers to their buildings.

  4. Take the first payment

Bills are raised ahead of each period. Record a payment at the office or from a caretaker’s phone, and share the receipt on WhatsApp.

    • On a computer, at the office.
    • In a phone’s browser, in the field, with the same account and a connection.
  5. Send the first statement

At the end of the month, chase the arrears, pay each landlord and send their statement as a PDF.

One web portal, on any screen

Staff use the web portal in the browser of a computer or of any phone, Android or iPhone, with a connection. On the paid plans, tenants and landlords sign in to their own portal the same way.
